Sarah Palin has provided the world with her first extensive public remarks after the tragic shootings in Tucson, Arizona.

“America’s Enduring Strength”

The Corner provides the transcript:

Like millions of Americans I learned of the tragic events in Arizona on Saturday, and my heart broke for the innocent victims. No words can fill the hole left by the death of an innocent, but we do mourn for the victims’ families as we express our sympathy.

I agree with the sentiments shared yesterday at the beautiful Catholic mass held in honor of the victims. The mass will hopefully help begin a healing process for the families touched by this tragedy and for our country.

Our exceptional nation, so vibrant with ideas and the passionate exchange and debate of ideas, is a light to the rest of the world. Congresswoman Giffords and her constituents were exercising their right to exchange ideas that day, to celebrate our Republic’s core values and peacefully assemble to petition our government. It’s inexcusable and incomprehensible why a single evil man took the lives of peaceful citizens that day.

There is a bittersweet irony that the strength of the American spirit shines brightest in times of tragedy. We saw that in Arizona. We saw the tenacity of those clinging to life, the compassion of those who kept the victims alive, and the heroism of those who overpowered a deranged gunman.

Like many, I’ve spent the past few days reflecting on what happened and praying for guidance. After this shocking tragedy, I listened at first puzzled, then with concern, and now with sadness, to the irresponsible statements from people attempting to apportion blame for this terrible event.

President Reagan said, “We must reject the idea that every time a law’s broken, society is guilty rather than the lawbreaker. It is time to restore the American precept that each individual is accountable for his actions.” Acts of monstrous criminality stand on their own. They begin and end with the criminals who commit them, not collectively with all the citizens of a state, not with those who listen to talk radio, not with maps of swing districts used by both sides of the aisle, not with law-abiding citizens who respectfully exercise their First Amendment rights at campaign rallies, not with those who proudly voted in the last election.

The last election was all about taking responsibility for our country’s future. President Obama and I may not agree on everything, but I know he would join me in affirming the health of our democratic process. Two years ago his party was victorious. Last November, the other party won. In both elections the will of the American people was heard, and the peaceful transition of power proved yet again the enduring strength of our Republic.

Vigorous and spirited public debates during elections are among our most cherished traditions.  And after the election, we shake hands and get back to work, and often both sides find common ground back in D.C. and elsewhere. If you don’t like a person’s vision for the country, you’re free to debate that vision. If you don’t like their ideas, you’re free to propose better ideas. But, especially within hours of a tragedy unfolding, journalists and pundits should not manufacture a blood libel that serves only to incite the very hatred and violence they purport to condemn. That is reprehensible.

There are those who claim political rhetoric is to blame for the despicable act of this deranged, apparently apolitical criminal. And they claim political debate has somehow gotten more heated just recently. But when was it less heated? Back in those “calm days” when political figures literally settled their differences with dueling pistols? In an ideal world all discourse would be civil and all disagreements cordial. But our Founding Fathers knew they weren’t designing a system for perfect men and women. If men and women were angels, there would be no need for government. Our Founders’ genius was to design a system that helped settle the inevitable conflicts caused by our imperfect passions in civil ways. So, we must condemn violence if our Republic is to endure.

As I said while campaigning for others last March in Arizona during a very heated primary race, “We know violence isn’t the answer. When we ‘take up our arms’, we’re talking about our vote.” Yes, our debates are full of passion, but we settle our political differences respectfully at the ballot box – as we did just two months ago, and as our Republic enables us to do again in the next election, and the next. That’s who we are as Americans and how we were meant to be. Public discourse and debate isn’t a sign of crisis, but of our enduring strength. It is part of why America is exceptional.

No one should be deterred from speaking up and speaking out in peaceful dissent, and we certainly must not be deterred by those who embrace evil and call it good. And we will not be stopped from celebrating the greatness of our country and our foundational freedoms by those who mock its greatness by being intolerant of differing opinion and seeking to muzzle dissent with shrill cries of imagined insults.

Just days before she was shot, Congresswoman Giffords read the First Amendment on the floor of the House. It was a beautiful moment and more than simply “symbolic,” as some claim, to have the Constitution read by our Congress. I am confident she knew that reading our sacred charter of liberty was more than just “symbolic.” But less than a week after Congresswoman Giffords reaffirmed our protected freedoms, another member of Congress announced that he would propose a law that would criminalize speech he found offensive.

It is in the hour when our values are challenged that we must remain resolved to protect those values. Recall how the events of 9-11 challenged our values and we had to fight the tendency to trade our freedoms for perceived security. And so it is today.

Let us honor those precious lives cut short in Tucson by praying for them and their families and by cherishing their memories. Let us pray for the full recovery of the wounded. And let us pray for our country. In times like this we need God’s guidance and the peace He provides. We need strength to not let the random acts of a criminal turn us against ourselves, or weaken our solid foundation, or provide a pretext to stifle debate.

America must be stronger than the evil we saw displayed last week. We are better than the mindless finger-pointing we endured in the wake of the tragedy. We will come out of this stronger and more united in our desire to peacefully engage in the great debates of our time, to respectfully embrace our differences in a positive manner, and to unite in the knowledge that, though our ideas may be different, we must all strive for a better future for our country. May God bless America.

Compassionate and not too harsh on the liberal media. Overall, I thought it was a great speech and displayed what you should expect from a person of character. Bravo.

Coming up next… President Obama’s remarks. Good luck.

Wonder what you would find if you frisked the Washington D.C. elites?

Answer: They think differently than the general population.

At least on a few issues… Katrina Trinko – from The Corner – reports:

Washington elites don’t care much for Sarah Palin, according to a Politico poll released today.

Among Washington elites, defined as college grads living in the D.C. metro area in policy or political positions and making $75,000 or more a year, only 11 percent think that Palin is qualified to be president, a steep decrease from the 23 percent nationwide who think she is qualified. And while half of the general population thinks that Palin is a “negative influence” on national politics, a whopping 79 percent of D.C. elites hold that view.

Asked who was most likely to win the GOP nomination in 2012, 30 percent of Washington elites picked Romney, while 11 percent chose Palin. All the other possible nominees, including Newt Gingrich, Mike Huckabee, Tim Pawlenty, John Thune, and Mitch Daniels, were only considered likely by single-digit percentages.

The elites also don’t think that the Tea Party will endure. While only 28 percent of the general population agreed that “the Tea Party movement is a fad – it will go away soon enough,” that percentage agreeing with the statement skyrocketed to 70 percent among Washington elites.

Although Sarah Palin is not my choice as a potential candidate for 2012, I thought the difference between the Washington D.C. elites and the general population’s opinion on whether or not she is qualified to be president was interesting. A twelve point gap is pretty huge…

When asked who was most likely to win the Republican nomination in 2012, 30 percent of Washington elites picked Mitt Romney. This did not shock me at all, because Washington D.C. loves their moderate politicians. After all, in my opinion, Romney is just another well rehearsed politician that would end up swimming in the center as a moderate if he won in 2012.

As of right now, my potential candidates in 2012 are Tim Pawlenty, Mitch Daniels, and Newt Gingrich.

On the subject of the Tea Party movement disappearing, I do not see that happening. If it does, it won’t be until after the 2012 election. Right now, too many Americans are upset about the radical agenda that President Obama and the Democrats have embraced.

Wonder what you would find if you frisked former Governor Sarah Palin and the Discovery Channel?

Answer: They are close to making a deal on a new travelogue show.

The Washington Post reports:

After trying unsuccessfully to sell to the broadcast networks a travelogue series about Alaska that would feature none other than SARAH PALIN, reality-TV king Mark Burnett appears to be in negotiations with Discovery Communications about placing the Palin “reality series” there.

Discovery is expected to announce soon that it’s getting into bed with the former Alaska governor for this limited-run series.

[...]

Earlier this month, Burnett, best known for executive-producing CBS’s “Survivor” and NBC’s “Celebrity Apprentice,” shopped the show around in Los Angeles, with Palin, to the broadcast networks for a reported price of about $1 million an episode, which is a lot of lettuce for a salmon-fishing and moose-skinning travelogue.

The broadcast networks appear to have passed because the show is not called “The Palins,” and it is not about Palin, her unwed daughter Bristol and baby Tripp, her potshot-taking nearly son-in-law Levi, her hot-looking husband Todd, and her baby with Down syndrome whom we all fell in love with during the 2008 presidential race, Trig.

Sorry liberals, as much as you would like to see a reality show based on Sarah Palin, it is not going to happen. Of course, I mean it in the sense that you would just use it to fuel your unintelligent agenda of demonizing anyone with an opposing viewpoint.

Personally, I find this to be a decent career move. Although this will place Palin outside of the political scene for a little while, it should help portray her and Alaska in a positive light that most Americans have not seen before. If a deal is actually finalized, the travelogue should be interesting and I will probably end up DVR’ing it. Let’s just hope it will be under 12 or so episodes, because more than that might be a little too much, haha.

Wonder what you would find if you frisked the cost analysis between Sarah Palin’s crib notes and President Obama’s teleprompter?

Answer: There is a pretty big price difference between the two.

Props to Zombie – from Pajamas Media – for this one:

Most politicians use “crib notes” of some kind while giving speeches.

Some bring 3×5 cards listing key points. Others refer to handwritten rough drafts. And some even read from pages on which the entire speech has been printed out.

But Barack Obama and Sarah Palin each have their own unique crib notes technology. The two diagrams below analyze how much each type of technology costs per speech.

Check out case study #1:

And now check out case study #2:

HAHA! Absolutely brilliant!

Side-Note: For the record, writing a few keywords on your hand cannot be compared to an individual that gives hour long speeches which are completely written out and read word for word from a teleprompter. I realize it is hard for some far-left liberals to understand, but keywords are not speeches. They are simply reminders that need to be articulated into meaningful sentences and we all know how Obama reacts when his teleprompter goes out:

Haha…

Blogger Pamela Geller.

Wonder what you would find if you frisked CNN Headline News’ Joy Behar Show last night?

Answer: Pamela Geller – blogger for Atlas Shruggs – absolutely destroys Joy Behar, Ron Reagan Jr., and Stephanie Miller.

Wow… I swear, this is a perfect example of how liberals love to use the tactic of demonization to attack others with an opposing view. There must be absolutely no planning before going on air, because it is perfectly clear what will take place: Joy Behar plays clips of Sarah Palin and her liberal guests attempt to attack her with the most disrespectful and hateful language they can possibly think of without using any expletives. What a hell of a show! Don’t you agree? At least this time Pamela Geller was there to keep the discussion amongst the hateful individuals somewhat sane.

Anthony G. Martin – from The Examiner - points out a fact that liberals love to ignore when it comes to Sarah Palin:

It is interesting that Leftwing Hollywood types such as Behar will quickly harp on Palin’s ‘prompt-words’ written on her hand while totally ignoring Barack Obama’s constant reliance on the teleprompter, even when addressing elementary school children.

Ah yes! The liberal hypocrisy… You got to love it, because it is so entertaining at times. Unfortunately, other times far-left liberals go way beyond the point of actual sanity. Here’s an example of an email Pamela Geller received after defending former Gov. Palin on The Joy Behar Show:

Subject: (no subject)
Date: 2/9/2010 12:28:27 A.M. Eastern Standard Time
From:
n.robinson@shaw.ca

Wow. You made yourself look like a complete dumb bitch on the Joy Beher show tonight. You have no damn clue what you’re talking about, and you remind me of Sarah Palin infact you two dumb bitches could be the same person. You say nasty things about a former president, and attack his son. I really hope you feel proud of yourself. You dumb ignorant s.o.b. why don’t you crawl back into the hole you came out of and die!

Absolutely disgusting and this segment from The Joy Behar Show just proves why FOX News’ Red Eye – which airs at 3 AM – is beating CNN’s prime-time again! CNN channels and shows are officially becoming a dumping ground and Joy Behar’s show is sitting right on top.  Congratulations CNN.

Wonder what you would find if you frisked Sarah Palin during her speech at the National Tea Party Convention in Nashville, Tennessee?

Answer: A few words jotted down on her left palm and for some reason the liberal mainstream media has been going crazy over it.

Wow… I can’t believe I’m actually wasting my time by posting this story on my blog, but it has been huge news for the far-left liberal idiots out there. Why? I will let the Founding Bloggers explain:

[...] the outrage on the left is being completely misunderstood by the right. Democrats don’t mind that she needed a few notes for her speech. They’re upset that Sarah used her hand, proving once again that she is an unsophisticated hick. Everybody knows that whether you’re taking to sixth grade classroom, or talking dirty to the First Lady, using anything other than a presidential level teleprompter is simply pedestrian.

And if you don’t believe that liberals would actually waste their time with this worthless and unimportant story, click here and check this out:

I swear, when liberals think they have found the slightest flaw of Sarah Palin, they flock to it like flies on a pile of manure.

Folks, let’s be honest here. What is worse: A few keywords jotted down on your palm for a speech or setting up teleprompters in 6th grade classrooms?:

Hmm… That’s a tough question to answer.

No worries though, because she knows how to fight back! Earlier today, former Governor Sarah Palin wrote “Hi Mom!” on her palm during her campaign stop with Governor Rick Perry of Texas. Check it out:

Props to Gateway Pundit for proving these photos were real.

Click here if you would like to read a whole list of moronic comebacks aimed at Sarah Palin’s “Hi Mom” retaliation, haha.

People in Massachusetts, make sure to get out and vote for Scott Brown!

I wish Scott Brown the best of luck today in his U.S. Senate bid! Also, if you know someone in Massachusetts, call them and make sure they go vote for Scott Brown.

So far so good, because the polls are open in Massachusetts and reports of heavy early turnout is quite encouraging.

More good news for Republicans: According to a DSCC internal poll, Brown is entering this election leading by five points:

Yes, the internal Coakley campaign poll numbers that have leaked out show a dead even race and perhaps a slight improvement over last week. However, there was more than one internal poll conducted by Democrats. A little birdie tells me that the final tracking survey conducted by the Mellman Group for the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee had Brown ahead by five points.

As I have stated before on my recent blog posts: The stars are starting to align! Even Sarah Palin Tweeted some words of encouragement about Scott Brown and today’s special election:

We must stop the radical and socialist agenda going on in Washington DC!

*UPDATE* – January 19, 2010

Republican candidate Scott Brown has officially casted his vote in Massachusetts. Take a look:

One down… Thousands more to go!

Wonder what you find if you frisked the Fox News Channel and Sarah Palin?

Answer: A new deal.

No… Not FDR.  This is something that doesn’t expand government faster than an airbag during a head-on collision. New York Times reports:

Former Gov. Sarah Palin of Alaska has signed on as a contributor to the Fox News Channel.

The network confirmed that Ms. Palin would appear on the network’s programming on a regular basis as part of a multiyear deal. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Ms. Palin will not have her own regular program, one person with knowledge of the deal said, though she will host a series that will run on the network from time to time. This person would not elaborate, but the network does have a precedent for such a series. Oliver L. North is the host of an occasionally running documentary series on the military called “War Stories.”

…And the plot thickens!

For all the Sarah Palin fans out there, this is not necessarily a bad move. After all, by going down the part-time television path she will be able to get more national exposure and that definitely doesn’t hurt a politician who is seeking higher office (whatever position that might be). Also, Palin is young enough and has plenty of opportunities to seek a presidential race in 2016, 2020, and 2024. In the meantime, she probably chose a good career path that will allow her to build up her support base since Fox News already attracts a lot of them.

For those of you who were hoping that she would make a run at the Oval Office in 2012, this new ‘multi-year’ deal probably isn’t the news you want to hear:

However, a multi-year deal may mean that Palin will wait to run for higher office.  She could either go for the Senate or the presidency next, but either way, she’d have to start building a campaign no later than a year from now.   Media outlets generally cut off analysts when they start building campaigns to avoid the necessity of giving opponents free air time for responses.  A multiyear deal doesn’t preclude the possibility of entering into a campaign in 2011, but it indicates that Palin isn’t yet envisioning such a step.

But who knows… The terms of the contract were not disclosed – for now – and therefore she might have some wiggle room to work with. In any event, Frisk A Liberal wishes her the best of luck at whatever she ends up doing!

Wonder what you would find if you frisked America on who they admire most?

Answer: Sarah Palin and Hillary Clinton are virtually tied as the most-admired woman.

Congratulations ladies! USA Today/Gallup poll reports:

The close finish by Clinton, named by 16% in the open-ended survey, and Palin, named by 15%, reflects the nation’s partisan divide. Clinton was cited by nearly 3 in 10 Democrats but only 6% of Republicans, Palin by a third of Republicans but less than 1% of Democrats.

Obama dominates the field among men at 30%, though his support also shows a partisan split. He was named by more than half of Democrats but just 7% of Republicans.

While the president’s job-approval rating has eroded during his first year in office, his standing as the most-admired man demonstrates “a very strong fan base,” says Frank Newport, Gallup’s editor in chief. The only past presidents to score higher were George W. Bush in 2001, in the aftermath of the Sept. 11 attacks, and John Kennedy in 1961.

Here’s the graphs:

Bravo Sarah Palin! After being the main target of the liberal mainstream media and Democratic Party for a year, coming within a percentage point (+/–4) of Hillary Clinton is really impressive. President Obama on the other hand – aside from the conservative blogosphere - hasn’t even came close to that type of scrutiny. It goes to show that what doesn’t kill you, truly makes you stronger.

*UPDATE* – December 30, 2009

Sarah Palin’s book “Going Rogue ” is number 3 on the non-fiction bestseller’s list in the Bay Area. This is really impressive considering many Bay Area bookstores refused to even carry it.

Read it and weep liberals:
