Hey there Frisk A Liberal fans!

I am currently headed down to Hilton Head Island, South Carolina where I will be blogging from for the next week. Don’t worry though… I will be hitting up the beaches, enjoying the July 4th fireworks, dining out constantly, golfing, making my excellent margaritas, strolling through Harbor Town, and whatever chaos I’m able to get myself into.

Hey there Frisk A Liberal fans!

I apologize for not having many posts last week, but I was in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina attempting to soak up some sun in the 60+ degree weather, haha.

Anyways, I am back to Lansing, Michigan’s crummy and cold early spring weather and I am ready to get back to blogging!

Since I was gone for a week and did not provide you with many new posts, I won’t even bother asking you to follow Frisk A Liberal on Facebook or Twitter right now. It was my bad.

Wonder what you would find if you frisked State Representative Mike Pitts (R-SC)?

Answer: He would like to ban the federal currency in South Carolina.

CBS News reports:

South Carolina Rep. Mike Pitts has introduced legislation that would mandate that gold and silver coins replace federal currency as legal tender in his state.

As the Palmetto Scoop first reported, Pitts, a Republican, introduced legislation this month banning “the unconstitutional substitution of Federal Reserve Notes for silver and gold coin” in South Carolina.

In an interview, Pitts told Hotsheet that he believes that “if the federal government continues to spend money at the rate it’s spending money, and if it continues to print money at the rate it’s printing money, our economic system is going to collapse.”

“The Germans felt their system wouldn’t collapse, but it took a wheelbarrow of money to buy a loaf of bread in the 1930s,” he said. “The Soviet Union didn’t think their system would collapse, but it did. Ours is capable of collapsing also.”

The lawmaker believes that a shift to an economy based on gold and silver coins would give the state a “base of currency” should that collapse come. As one expert told the Scoop, however, his bill would likely be ruled unconstitutional because it “violates a perfectly legal and Constitutional federal law, enacted pursuant to the Commerce Clause of the U.S. Constitution, that federal reserve notes are legal tender for all debts public and private.”

In addition, since gold and silver regularly fluctuate in value, they could not easily function as stable currency.

Very interesting… Correct me if I am wrong, but isn’t it gold that never fluctuates in value? It is our fiat money that fluctuates in relation to gold, but I’m just saying…

In the end, I believe South Carolina Rep. Mike Pitts’ legislation is more symbolic than it is actual reality. It is common sense that our federal government cannot keep borrowing and spending at the current rate they are going, because it is simply unsustainable. Hopefully Rep. Pitts’ legislation will act as a slight pinch to the federal government that we are not dreaming: Economies can collapse… No matter how “powerful” they are.

Side-Note: I know it is early in the day, but I am just waiting for the liberal mainstream media to pick up this story and twist it as “just another right-wing extremist” trying to harm America. Haha.

Rep. Joe Wilson (R-SC)

Wonder what you would find if you frisked the Republicans during President Obama’s health care speech last night?

Answer: A Republican with enough balls to speak up and object to Obama.

If you were watching the Messiah speak last night about the coverage illegal immigrants would receive with socialized health care reform you probably heard a Republican yell out “You lie!”  That risky individual is Rep. Joe Wilson, a Republican from South Carolina.

Props to you Joe! Obama said his plan wouldn’t fund illegals, but we all know there’s nothing in there that says it won’t. But like all politicians, including Rep. Wilson, they always have to stay political savvy and make a statement apologizing for an ‘out of the box’ comment:

“This evening I let my emotions get the best of me when listening to the President’s remarks regarding the coverage of illegal immigrants in the health care bill. While I disagree with the President’s statement, my comments were inappropriate and regrettable. I extend sincere apologies to the President for this lack of civility.”

I wouldn’t feel too bad Joe. After all, at least your not Van Jones apologizing for:

Yeah, I’d say you got it good buddy. Why? Because when it comes down to it, you were absolutely correct. Unless Obama is reading something between the lines (he’d have to read the bill first), he would see there is nothing in there that restricts illegal immigrants from being covered in his plan:

Taxpayer-Funded Benefits for Illegals. The House bill, as currently structured, does not offer clear guidelines to ensure that illegal immigrants cannot access taxpayer-funded health care benefits. Rep. Dean Heller (R-NV) introduced an amendment that would use two citizenship status verification systems, the Income and Eligibility Verification System (IEVS) and Systematic Alien Verification for Entitlements (SAVE) programs, to establish an individual’s eligibility to obtain the bill’s proposed affordability credits or enroll in the public insurance option. Both programs are currently used to determine citizenship status and eligibility for public assistance programs. Safeguards to guarantee that only citizens can access federal health care benefits are necessary, considering that the US Census Bureau currently estimates that 9.6 million of the uninsured are not US citizens. The first Heller amendment failed on a straight party-line vote.

Keep misleading liberals… You’ll go up a couple points in the polls this week, but in a couple weeks you’ll be right back to where your at before Obama’s speech.
