Wonder what you would find if you frisked Nancy Pelosi’s view on Obama-Care’s federal mandate?
Answer: Apparently it is very fair to send people who disregard the federal mandate to buy health insurance to prison.
In other words, it is VERY unconstitutional as well.
Well said Mr. Morrissey:
Apparently, the occasionally unhealthy have become such a security risk that we need to imprison them for opting to pay their own way.
Of course, the other option is to make people responsible for paying their own bills. Nothing requires us to pick up the tab for people in clinics or emergency rooms, especially those who can afford to pay their way. This is the point that Pelosi and her statist colleagues seem to forget. People who choose not to buy coverage even though they could afford it assume the risk of paying out of pocket — and that may be a very rational choice, as it is most unlikely that those people would use $3,000 a month in medical services, which is what their insurance would cost now.
Side-Note: I wonder how the youth vote feels about this whole issue? After all, they are one of the main demographics that don’t purchase health-care and made up a large chunk of Barack Obama’s support in the 2008 election. To be honest, I bet I could go around the campus of Michigan State University here in East Lansing, MI and 90% of them wouldn’t have the slightest clue what I’m talking about. Generalization? Yes. Truth to it? Absolutely.
Got to love the misinformed. They help get a guy elected and the moment he gains power, he tosses them under the bus… Or should I say, plan to toss them in jail for not purchasing Obama-Care’s federal mandate.
