Wonder what you would find if you frisked the birthday gifts of Senator Mary Landrieu (D-LA)?
Answer: $300 million for being on the fence for Obama-Care!
Sing along with me now: Happy birthday to you… Happy birthday to you… Happy birthday, dear Senator Mary Landrieu… Happy birthday to you!
That’s right folks, today (November 23rd) is Sen. Mary Landrieu’s (D-LA) birthday and she is getting $300 million of our tax dollars for falling off the fence and landing on the side that supports Obama-Care. Fortunately for her, the 2,000+ page House and Senate bills probably broke her fall. Senator Harry Reid (D-NV) inserted a provision in the health care reform plan that gave Louisana $100 million exclusively. Or so we thought… Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to what has been dubbed as “The Louisiana Purchase“:
Then, in a statement sure to be repeated by Republicans endlessly over the coming weeks of Senate health care debate, the senator flaunted the inclusion of the provision. “I will correct something. It’s not $100 million, it’s $300 million, and I’m proud of it and will keep fighting for it,” Landrieu told reporters after her floor speech. “But that is not why I started this health care debate; I started this health care debate for all the reasons I just mentioned in my statement” on the floor.
Transparency? Indeed. Bribery? Oh yeah! I sense some strong attack advertisements coming her way during her next election.
Unbelievable… I wonder what my liberal U.S. senators got for Michigan? Calling Debbie Stabenow and Carl Levin!
Side-Note: Remember the actual Louisiana Purchase that added 800,000 square miles to the United States? Yeah… That little land purchase only cost $15 million. I’ll let you compare.
Here’s your birthday cake Ms. Landrieu:
