Originally, I decided to write a blog post about all of the angry, unhinged liberals that have been “occupying” cities all over the country. Unfortunately, I can’t stop there. After going through video after video of these “protests,” I decided to put together one about the clueless individuals present as well.

Reason TV reported:

On October 4, 2011, Reason.tv visited the Occupy Wall Street protests at Liberty Square in Lower Manhattan, on Day 18 of the ongoing demonstration.

The crowd was relatively small at about 300, and included educated but unemployed workers, college students and recent graduates, homeless drifters, performance artists, 9/11 truthers, and a not-insignificant number of journalists.

Do you think their message is quite incoherent? Don’t worry… There’s more:

Seriously… Did anyone come prepared to answer the most obvious question: “Why are you here?”

To be fair to the “protesters”, not even a former high school teacher of mine – who supports the Occupy Wall Street movement – could answer the simple question of what the central message was.

Perhaps this video will explain their central message:

No? Well this kid has to have all the answers we’re looking for, right?:

Sadly, this kid just makes me shake my head in embarrassment that he’s from my home state. Why? Because he’s wrong on almost everything he says! Let’s break it down:

Misinformed Kid: “Like, I just moved out here from Michigan and we had a governor named Rick Snyder and he was a businessman previously and he just started so much f***ed up s*** in my town there. “

  • Fact Check: I realize I’m starting off by being picky, but the last I checked Governor Rick Snyder was still the governor of Michigan.

Misinformed Kid: “He made it so that … uh … he could like hire an emergency financial-like-adviser who could takeover and be our governor without us even voting for him. And… That way – mumble – our town could have been taken over by like big corporations such as Walmart.”

  • Fact Check: First of all, there can only be one governor of Michigan at a time. Second, the legislation he is referring to just simply gives emergency financial managers more authority to keep cities and school districts out of bankruptcy. In the end, no one – especially Walmart CEOs – is going to takeover any cities in Michigan. Also, let’s just be honest here… If this kid’s accusation was even the least bit true, what company would ever want to takeover a Detroit school district, Benton Harbor, Ecorse or Pontiac? Answer: No one with a head on their shoulders.
Misinformed Kid: “Places like Michigan where I was from, people don’t really see anything like this that’s going on so they don’t get this stuff brought up. All they see is what’s on Fox News and what these big companies are reporting.”
  • Fact Check: Where do I start with this one? Personally, Michiganders would be a lot better off if they never saw this garbage. As for his claim that Michiganders get their news from Fox News, I would remind him that Michigan has been quite the blue-state over the past couple decades. If they were consistently watching Fox News, I would hope the message would get through a little easier, no?
Misinformed Kid: “I don’t have a huge knowledge on the Tea Party, but mostly what I’ve heard about them just kind of seems like bulls***. Um, it’s mostly people like Sarah Palin. Also, most people I know who voted for her didn’t really know any of her political agendas. All they were like was “Oh, she has a TV show and that’s cool”. I think that’s what’s really f***ed up about politics.”
  • Fact Check: Does he mean people who voted for John McCain who just so happened to have Sarah Palin as his running mate? To be fair, maybe the kid has a couple older friends from Alaska who voted for her as governor, but I highly doubt it. Also, no one has had the opportunity to vote for Sarah Palin since her television show aired on TLC. Perhaps the kid’s timeline of events is a little off, because that show came after the 2008 election. Haha.

You get the point.

In conclusion, I will leave you with this image from the Occupy Wall Street event that showed up in an overseas publication:

Stay classy.

*UPDATE* – October 18, 2011 – 11:50 PM

This is just weird and creepy:

You have got to be kidding me…

Don’t worry folks, it gets even better (h/t The Right Scoop):

*UPDATE* – October 19, 2011 – 12:11 AM

This Occupy Wall Street protester wants college paid for because that’s what he wants. If that logic or complaining sounds familiar, it should. It’s just like a five year-old’s reasoning for throwing a temper tantrum because they don’t get what they want (h/t National Review):

Typical.

*UPDATE* – October 19, 2011 – 12:15 AM

Great, here comes the Marxist idiots:

Video from Tea Party Television and description by The Right Scoop:

Tea Party TV went to Occupy Oakland and I don’t think there is a better representation of Marxism in our country than in their video. Warning: it may make you want to hit your head on your desk multiple times. I recommend using a pillow instead. Just remember to breath.

Wow… This group’s outlook and logic on life is extremely baffling.

*UPDATE* – October 19, 2011 – 12:20 AM

Video commentary by The Right Scoop:

This is classic OWS stupidity. One of several protesters complains to Citibank about loans that she voluntarily took out for college, loans that amount to over $100k, and now that she’s going to have a $1600 payment every month and doesn’t have a job, she blames Citibank. But how is this Citibank’s fault? She even said her parents allowed her to take out these big loans because they wanted her to have a great education. But now that she’s jobless, instead of showing up at the White House to protest, she shows up at the bank to blame them. How ridiculous!

[…]

Now I don’t know this one girl’s story, but I’m betting that she wanted to go to a college of her choosing and after months of whining about it, her parents finally yielded to her choice since she was all growed up. And now look at her. What a fine ignoramus she has become. Obama would be so proud.

Typical entitlement mindset. In all honesty, it’s sad to watch.

Wonder what you would find if you frisked President Obama’s campaign speech on July 3, 2008?

Answer: Apparently, it is irresponsible and “unpatriotic” to add $4 trillion to our national debt.

Interesting… Especially when this headline showed up on CBS News a couple days ago:

National debt has increased $4 trillion under Obama

The latest posting by the Treasury Department shows the national debt has now increased $4 trillion on President Obama’s watch.

The debt was $10.626 trillion on the day Mr. Obama took office. The latest calculation from Treasury shows the debt has now hit $14.639 trillion.

It’s the most rapid increase in the debt under any U.S. president.

The national debt increased $4.9 trillion during the eight-year presidency of George W. Bush. The debt now is rising at a pace to surpass that amount during Mr. Obama’s [first] term.

According to Obama, his own failed policies must have an “unpatriotic” element to them. After all, it was Obama and his Democratic Congress who managed to add another $4 trillion to our national debt in a quick two and a half years.

Democrats are trying to push back against Republicans who are using this story as ammo against President Obama’s campaign. They are attempting to use the dismal approval ratings of Congress to shutdown Republicans. The problem with this strategy is that the Democratic Party held the majorities in both the House of Representatives and Senate, but I guess they’re hoping the American people will be hit with amnesia. Also, if it is Congress’s fault for the extreme increase in our national debt, then wouldn’t it be then-Senator Obama’s fault for the trillions of dollars added on to our national debt under President Bush? Sorry, but you can’t have it both ways Democrats.

As for the Republicans, this video/audio clip is political gold for the 2012 presidential campaign and will soon be featured in dozens of political advertisements. Just wait and see.

Above is a video clip from the hit television series The West Wing where Josh Lyman, the Deputy Chief of Staff to the president, thinks he can easily handle the White House press pool. Notice how he gets stumped at the end of the clip about an “inflation plan”. Instead of admitting that the president doesn’t have a plan to tackle the possibility of inflation, Josh decides to call the press pool stupid and tells that he does have a plan. Entertaining, right?

Now let’s comeback to reality.

Here’s a video clip of President Obama’s White House Press Secretary Jay Carney from earlier today:

Haha… Priceless! It’s crazy how The West Wing can mirror real life at times.

On a serious note, where’s the [real] president’s plan at???

Guy Benson – from Townhall.com – made an interesting point:

Since his unmitigated failure of a budget was unanimously defeated in the Senate, this president has refused to offer a specific plan of his own on virtually anything at all.  Instead, he talks about “visions” and “contours” and “frameworks” — and tries to blame his opponents when his poor leadership is exposed.  Over the last five days, the president has (a) undermined a bargain with John Boehner by introducing an unacceptable eleventh-hour condition, (b) rejected “out of hand” a bipartisan compromise that he found to be politically unpalatable, and (c) delivered a speech that painted his opponents as the intractable extremists.  In light of this behavior, it’s entirely reasonable for Americans to wonder what, precisely, Barack Obama’s proposed solution might be.  Today, the White House dismissively waived off that question as a GOP talking point and condescendingly inquired if the journalist who dared to ask it was capable of taking notes.

Well said.

The banner above the should read “Typical Politician”, but U.S. Rep. Anthony Weiner (D-NY) finally admitted that he has been lying all week long. The lewd photograph that showed up on his official Twitter account last week was indeed his.

Fox News reports:

Rep. Anthony Weiner, D-N.Y., admitted Monday in a stunning press conference that he sent a lewd photo to a woman over Twitter, after claiming for days that he was hacked. Saying he is “deeply ashamed,” he also said he’s had explicit exchanges with six women over the last three years, some of which occurred after he got married in 2010.

But the seven-term congressman said he would not resign, expressing hope that he could win back the trust of his constituents.

Can Rep. Weiner survive this politically?:

“This is probably not a death blow to Weiner’s chances of holding on to his House seat or even his shot at being mayor: New Yorkers are pretty forgiving about these kinds of things,” NYU political science professor Patrick Egan told The Daily Caller. “But in the short term it probably hurts his fundraising.”

[…]

Others say he’s done.

“Congressman Weiner’s political career may well be over,” said Republican Ron Christie. “First the lewd image, then his anger-fueled media encounters have not made him an endearing nor sympathetic figure. Toss in more tweets to a porn star and his lack of certitude about the picture’s authenticity may well have many in New York City questioning his.”

Whether he recovers or not, full-rehabilitation in the public sphere may take some time.

Even though I am a staunch Republican, I truly believe that Rep. Weiner should resign immediately. He lied to every camera placed in front of him last week and only called for a press conference today, because he was backed into a corner that he could not escape.

Quit Question: Do you really want a 46 year-old congressman, who sends lewd photos of himself to 20+ year-old females, in charge of legislation that effects the lives of every American?

*UPDATE* – June 6, 2011 – 10:30 PM.

…Or maybe this whole “Weinergate” scandal isn’t Rep. Weiner’s fault at all. After all, MSNBC’s Chris Matthews believes Rep. Anthony Weiner’s wife may be “partly responsible” for his sexual misconduct:

Really dude?

Wonder what you would find if you frisked the Democrat-controlled Senate today?

Answer: They voted down the FY12 Republican House budget.

Hot Air reports:

In a procedural vote that represented some pretty fine political grandstanding, the Senate this evening voted down the controversial House-passed budget, 57 to 40. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid scheduled the vote to force conservative senators to go on the record in support of Rep. Paul Ryan’s budget plan — a plan opponents say will deprive seniors of adequate health care.

The vote roughly broke down along party lines, but Republican Sens. Scott Brown (Mass.), Susan Collins (Maine), Rand Paul (SC), Olympia Snowe (Maine) and Lisa Murkowski (Alaska) all broke ranks and voted against consideration of the budget.

It’ll be all too easy for Democrats to criticize Republicans who voted for the Ryan plan — but, before they do, they might want to consider this advice, offered in the preamble to the president’s own fiscal commission report:

In the weeks and months to come, countless advocacy groups and special interests will try mightily through expensive, dramatic and heart-wrenching media assaults to exempt themselves from shared sacrifice and common purpose. The national interest, not special interests, must prevail. We urge leaders and citizens with principled concerns about any of our recommendations to follow what we call the Becerra Rule: Don’t shoot down an idea without offering a better idea in its place.

So, what better idea have the Democrats offered? Still none. It’s been 756 days now and that number just continues to climb. The only budget to come from the left has come from the president — and that budget doesn’t exactly address what fiscal commission co-chair Erskine Bowles has called “the most predictable economic crisis in history.” The Congressional Budget Office found that the president’s FY 2012 budget would double the nation’s debt and would never achieve an annual deficit of less than $748 billion.

Leadership! Well… Maybe one of these days.

Have you ever wondered what the “hipsters” at the SXSW Music and Media Conference in Austin, Texas thought about Net Neutrality?

Answer: Steven Crowder finds out.

As a huge computer and social media geek, I believe Net Neutrality is one of the worst concepts jotted down on paper:

Net Neutrality is a proposed set of regulatory powers that would grant the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) the ability to control how Internet service providers (ISPs) package their services. Proponents argue that such rules are necessary to ensure that ISPs treat all data on the Internet equally and don’t slow or even restrict access to various websites and other parts of the Internet.

However well-intentioned, the practical effect will be to limit consumer choice and grant the federal government unprecedented power over the Internet, all in the name of fixing a problem that doesn’t exist in any meaningful way. Indeed, examples of the behavior that Net Neutrality will combat are few and far between.

As I have mentioned before on my blog,  David Harsanyi says it best: Why would we want a prehistoric bureaucracy overseeing one of the past century’s great improvements?

Wonder what you would find if you frisked the Democrats’ claim that they can solve the country’s fiscal problems by raising taxes on the so-called “rich”?

Answer: There’s not enough of those “rich people” to raise taxes on.

Props to the Wall Street Journal and Power Line for reporting this story:

This chart from the Wall Street Journal tells you pretty much all you need to know about the credibility of the Democrats’ claim that they can solve the country’s fiscal problems by raising taxes on “the rich.” The chart, based on 2008 IRS data, shows how much total income was reported by Americans in each income range.

Notice where all the money comes from.

The problem with rich people (or, more properly high income earners) is that there aren’t enough of them. Upper-income taxpayers are already paying around double their fair (pro rata) share of federal income taxes on the average, and there simply aren’t enough dollars at the high end to pay for the Democrats’ spending spree, even if the Dems try to steal them all. The only way to balance the budget through tax increases is by going where most of the money is–the $50,000 to $500,000 adjusted gross income range.

In the end, if President Obama wants to solve our fiscal problems by increasing taxes, he would have to go after the middle-class. Good luck proposing that plan to the American people.
