Wonder what you would find if you frisked the Service Employees International Union (SEIU)?

Answer: They are being hit with a RICO lawsuit!

Big Government reports:

After years of being harassed by the purple people beaters, one company has finally said ENOUGH.

In a press release issued Thursday, Sodexo USA announced that the company has filed a civil lawsuit against the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) under the Racketeering Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act., accusing the union of engaging in an “illegal campaign of extortion.”  The lawsuit representing Sodexo is Hunton & Williams – the same firm SEIU and its allies have accused of launching a “dirty tricks” campaign against them in retaliation for their anti-Chamber of Commerce campaigns.

One of the largest food services and facilities management companies in the world, Sodexo is the provider of choice for most schools, universities, companies, hotels, prisons and other facilities that outsource their cafeteria and food catering operations, and for those that outsource industrial cleaning services.  SEIU has been incessantly battering Sodexo since 2007, in its desire to unionize some of its nearly 400,000 employees, many of them hotel and food service workers.  Exacerbating the tensions was a longstanding turf war between SEIU and UNITE HERE over hotel and casino workers, which often spilled over into SEIU’s antics prior to the settlement the warring unions reached this past summer.

Sodexo USA has filed the lawsuit in an attempt to halt the over-the-top harassment from SEIU, alleging that many of the acts are very serious and outside of the normal realm of union tactics, including acts of ” SEIU blackmail, vandalism, trespass, harassment, and lobbying law violations designed to steer business away from Sodexo USA and harm the company.” [emphasis added]

Aside from some of its usual corporate smear campaign tactics, certain organizers in the SEIU subscribed to some especially nasty, and frankly repulsive, tactics:

The complaint alleges that the SEIU, in face to face meetings, threatened Sodexo USA’s executives that it would harm Sodexo USA’s business unless they gave in to the union, and then carried out its threats through egregious behavior, including:

  • throwing plastic roaches onto food being served by Sodexo USA at a high profile event;
  • scaring hospital patients by insinuating that Sodexo USA food contained bugs, rat droppings, mold and flies;
  • lying to interfere with Sodexo USA business and sneaking into elementary schools to avoid security;
  • violating lobbying laws to steer business away from Sodexo USA, even at the risk of costing Sodexo USA employees their jobs; and
  • harassing Sodexo USA employees by threatening to accuse them of wrongdoing.

This is only the beginning. It will be interesting to see how this lawsuit turns out.

Hmm… So whatever happened to that so-called “new civility” we needed in America?

The DCist reports:

Paul Craney, the executive director of the D.C. Republican Committee, got quite the surprise when he came into the office today — someone had shot out the windows of the party’s headquarters at 1275 K Street NW with what appeared to be small caliber pellets.

“All I can say is that whoever did it either is targeting glass windows or the D.C. Republican Committee,” said Craney in an email this afternoon. Craney told us that the damage occurred around 1:30 a.m. last night, when the building’s security company left him a message about a glass break — but he didn’t notice the damage until he went and got lunch today, at which point he tweeted about it. Craney said that the headquarters’ neighbors were not hit by any of the projectiles.

Police were contacted by the building’s landlord and the incident is under investigation.

I am so glad that I moved to Washington, D.C. two weeks ago, because it appears we Republicans are being hunted around here, haha.

As Jonah Goldberg – from The National Review – pointed out: If it had been the DNC office that would prove the tea parties are [fill in the blank].”

BREAKING NEWS: Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak has stepped down.

Fox News reports:

Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak has stepped down and handed control of the country to the military, Vice President Omar Suleiman said Friday in an address on state television.

The announcement touched off a wave of jubilation throughout Cairo’s Tehrir Square, where tens of thousands of anti-government protesters had gathered demanding Mubarak’s ouster hours after he failed to do so in an address on Thursday.

“In these difficult circumstances that the country is passing through, President Hosni Mubarak has decided to leave the position of the presidency,” Suleiman said. He has commissioned the armed forces council to direct the issues of the state.”

Mubarak had sought to cling to power, handing some of his authorities to Suleiman while keeping his title. But an explosion of protests Friday rejecting the move appeared to have pushed the military into forcing him out completely. Hundreds of thousands marched throughout the day in cities across the country as soldiers stood by, besieging his palace in Cairo and Alexandria and the state TV building.

Here is a great video clip from Fox Insider — the reaction in Tahrir Square at the moment of the announcement:

The Egyptian military is now in charge. While everything seems great right now, as The Heritage Foundation points out, the country of Egypt has a long way to go:

The Egyptian military faces many challenges: restoring order, cracking down on violence, ensuring that the economy does not collapse, and guiding a political process that will allow time and space for the voices of the Egyptian people to be heard. Egypt’s most pressing need is economic reforms that will improve the livelihoods of its citizens and create a platform that will allow civil society to flourish. If either the Muslim Brotherhood or the country’s “old guard” is permitted to hijack the revolution, the needs and aspirations of the people will never be satisfied, and the country could lapse into an authoritarian state even less desirable than that of the Mubarak regime.

Are you wondering how President Obama heard about President Mubarak stepping down? He heard the news the same way everyone else did… Through television:

Caught up in stunning news like the rest of the world, President Barack Obama was in an Oval Office meeting Friday when he learned of Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak’s resignation. He watched the celebration on television and prepared to make an afternoon statement.

President Obama is scheduled to speak about Mubarak’s resignation at 1:30 PM ET.

Exit Question: Will he take all the credit? Probably not, because his loyal followers are already doing it for him.

Wonder what you would find if you frisked the anti-Koch brothers protest in Palm Spring, CA last weekend?

Answer: Leftist protesters calling for the deaths of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, Fox News executives, and Glenn Beck.

This is absolutely pathetic and disgusting. It is interesting that the mainstream media has no problem with blaming famous conservatives (e.g. Sarah Palin) and the Tea Party for the tragic shooting in Tucson, Arizona. Meanwhile, they blatantly ignore the actual hatred being spewed from individuals on the left.

So much for that new tone of “civility”.

Oddly enough, these leftist idiots were out in the California sunshine protesting Charles and David Koch for being conservative and rich. Big Government points out the protesters’ ignorance and hypocrisy:

Unfortunately several “haves” have missed the memo that you’re not to be both rich and conservative at the same time, and that bankrolling your pet causes is an extra no-no if you’re conservative—thus exempting left-wing billionaire philanthropists George Soros (from whom Common Cause has received $2 million over the past eight years) Peter Lewis, John Doerr, Julian RobertsonNicolas Berggruen, and many others from being yelled at too.

At the morning panel event featuring UCI Law Dean Erwin Chemerinsky, activist Jim Hightower, Center for American Progress journalist and “Koch Brothers expert” Lee Fang, California Nurses Association co-president DeAnn McEwan, and President Obama’s former green jobs czar Van Jones, we were forewarned of the impending demise of both the environment and democracy at the hands of corporate lobbyists and their government shills.

There was eerily no mention of GE, AEP, Goldmann Sachs, Pfizer, Aetna, Alcoa, Xerox, Google, Motorola, IBM, or several other corporate giants who profit at taxpayer expense via their K Street connections to the Obama White House as well as the very economic and regulatory policies they lobby that these Common Cause panelists commonly endorse. But I’m sure that’s only because no one wanted to point out the obvious. Right?

It is sad that these people can’t argue the issues without resorting to demonization, racist remarks, and death threats. They should all be ashamed of themselves.

As for the mainstream media, the conservative blogosphere is still waiting for you to report this vitriolic hatred. After all, you are fair and balanced right?

*UPDATE* – February 7, 2011 – 10:02 AM.

Not even the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) will defend Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas. The Daily Caller reports:

The NAACP won’t directly address the racism displayed by progressive protesters outside a summit hosted by billionaire brothers Charles and David Koch at the end of January in Palm Springs, Calif., but the organization did call for an end to all “vitriolic language.”

In response to The Daily Caller’s request for comment on a video showing progressive protesters calling for somebody to “string up” African American Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, or “send him back into the fields” or “cut off all his toes and feed them to him one-by-one,” NAACP spokesman Hilary Shelton pointed to the organization’s recent resolution calling for a “civil political discourse.”

“Last summer, the NAACP passed a resolution calling for a civil political discourse,” Shelton said in an e-mail to TheDC. “We continue to call on all Americans to abandon vitriolic language. It serves as a distraction from the real issues our society need to address and distorts the challenges we as Americans have to confront to make our nation greater still.”

Shelton would not, however, address the content of the video directly.

Shocking…

Wonder what you would find if you frisked the memorial for the victims of the Tucson shooting tragedy?

Answer: Thousands of blue “Together We Thrive” t-shirts.

Was this a campaign rally or memorial service? Tom Fitton – from Big Government – reports:

Adding to the inappropriate atmosphere were thousands of blue “Together We Thrive,” t-shirts and posters plastered all over the place, an obvious play on a popular Obama presidential campaign theme from 2008.

Perhaps it was also the fact that the whole event was “branded” in the first place: “Together We Thrive: Tucson and America.”

Perhaps it was the cheering throngs of Obama fans whooping and hollering as the President took to the stage, making the whole event seem more like a pep rally than a memorial. (And the same goes for Secretary of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano, who also reportedly received a thunderous reception.)

Or, conversely, perhaps it was the smattering of boos that erupted when Governor Jan Brewer, a Republican, took to the stage to deliver her remarks — a reaction that “would have been hard to imagine, say, in the days after the Oklahoma City bombing,” the New York Times noted.

Perhaps it was all of those shameless attempts by liberals to play politics with this massacre leading up to the memorial event — suggesting, if not outright claiming, that this tragedy was the fault of “right wingers” in general and Glen Beck and Sarah Palin specifically. (I documented many of these ridiculous statements previously.)

Given the political nature of the event, many people questioned the funding involved in the t-shirt controversy. This is what they found out:

On January 20 the University told us it had no documents responsive to our first request. And it gave us one document responsive to our second request showing that the t-shirts cost the University of Arizona $60,885. Supposedly, the University of Arizona is paying this bill without the use of “tuition, state allocations, tax dollars or student fees.” Money is fungible, so the taxpayers apparently helps pay this bill, however indirectly.

Playing politics with a tragedy? Debatable.

Inappropriate expenditure for a public university? Absolutely.

Wonder what you would find if you frisked the liberal mainstream media’s coverage of the tragic Tucson, Arizona shooting?

Answer: Some of the dumbest political sound-bites you have ever heard.

Props to Reason.tv for parting together this video:

Immediately following last week’s tragic events in Tucson, television pundits fell over each another to assign blame. According to the professional talking heads–and despite any actual evidence–the shooting of Rep. Gabrielle Giffords could be pinned on the Tea Party, Ayn Rand, gold enthusiasts, Sarah Palin, Glenn Beck, heavy metal, marijuana, and/or the “heated rhetoric” of cable news. Reason.tv trawls the archives and compiles the dumbest responses from America’s dumbest pundits.

To be honest, with all of the stupidity that came from the mainstream media last week, I am pretty sure that this video could have easily been a lot longer.

After watching a video like this, it is hard not to want to shake some sense into these people. Wait… Is shaking too “vitriolic” these days? I can’t keep track anymore.

Side-Note: Not like any of you care, but I am starting to get extremely annoyed by the word “vitriol” being tossed around by political pundits more often than a game of Hot Potato. I beg you all, please open up a thesaurus and find a few alternatives.

Wonder what you would find if you frisked some of the Democrat groups out there?

Answer: They are using Saturday’s shooting as a fundraising tool.

This is absolutely appalling. Warner Todd Huston – from Big Government – reports:

An extreme, left-wing Democrat group calling itself 21st Century Democrats has had the gall to send out an email blast using as a fundraising tool Saturday’s criminal shooting of Representative Gabrielle Giffords in Arizona. Judge John Roll and four others were killed in the incident, one of them a 9-year-old girl, but these Democrats are ignorant enough to be using this incident to try and squeeze donations from its supporters. Some might think the action of 21st Century Democrats is itself a crime — a crime against decency.

The email blast sent out Sunday morning to its supporters tells members that “we don’t know yet” why Jared Loughner shot Gabrielle Giffords but goes on to lay the blame on Sarah Palin and Gifford’s opponent in the past election for using “violent imagery” in his campaign.

The email goes on to ask members to “join us in sharing your thoughts and prayers to the Congresswoman and her family by visiting our website where we have set up a page for you to do so.” Naturally once you click on the link you are taken to a page that prominently displays the group’s DONATE NOW button. It is not in the slightest way discreetly designed. As soon as you go to this so-called prayers page you see a large button asking for donations and another one underneath it urging visitors to “sign up” for email blasts and information.

Disgustingly, 21st Century Democrats is using this crime in a fundraising effort.

Don’t believe it? Here’s a screenshot just in case the group decides to scrub it off their website:

Click here to view full image.

This group has no decency.

I suppose they are just following in the footsteps of former White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel, because they are, in his words, not letting a serious crisis to go to waste. Unfortunately, if this group isn’t doing it then others sure are. According to Politico, some Democrats plotted to blame the Tea Party patriots for Saturday’s horrific shooting in Tucson, Arizona:

One veteran Democratic operative, who blames overheated rhetoric for the shooting, said President Barack Obama should carefully but forcefully do what his predecessor did.

“They need to deftly pin this on the tea partiers,” said the Democrat. “Just like the Clinton White House deftly pinned the Oklahoma City bombing on the militia and anti-government people.”

Unfortunately for the Democrats, apart from being incredibly insane, all of the evidence is pointing to the fact that Jared Loughner – the shooter – was more left in his political ideology.

*UPDATE* – January 11, 2011 – 10:45 PM.

What is wrong with Democrats? The Weekly Standard reports:

This afternoon Sanders sent out a fundraising appeal, seeking to raise money to fight Republicans and other “right-wing reactionaries” responsible for the climate that led to the shooting.

He writes:

Given the recent tragedy in Arizona, as well as the start of the new Congress, I wanted to take this opportunity to share a few words with political friends in Vermont and throughout the country.  I also want to thank the very many supporters who have begun contributing online to my 2012 reelection campaign at www.bernie.org.  There is no question but that the Republican Party, big money corporate interests and right-wing organizations will vigorously oppose me.  Your financial support now and in the future is much appreciated.

Despicable.
