Wonder what you would find if you frisked the Development, Relief and Education for Alien Minors (D.R.E.A.M.) Act?

Answers: This devious piece of legislation was passed in the United States House of Representatives last night.

Do not be fooled by the name of this bill. The real goal of the DREAM Act is to provide amnesty for those who chose to enter our country illegally and make it even harder to enforce our immigration laws.

The Democrats are trying desperately to portray this disastrous piece of legislation as something that will benefit only children. Unfortunately, that is not true at all:

It will basically extend an amnesty to an estimated 2.1 million illegal aliens who are as old as 35 or 30, depending on which version of DREAM you are looking at.  But because aliens granted citizenship under the DREAM Act could then sponsor their spouses, children, siblings, and parents, chain migration could result in triple that number of illegal aliens ultimately receiving amnesty and becoming citizens.

What is even more of a joke is the requirements of college and the Armed Forces in-order to secure amnesty for themselves (and potentially their entire family):

You only have to show that you completed two years of college to be entitled to amnesty – there is no requirement that you actually obtain a degree.

[…]

But even those requirements to complete two years of college education or uniformed service can be waived by the Secretary of Homeland Security, Janet Napolitano, if the alien can demonstrate “compelling circumstances” and the alien’s removal would cause a hardship to the alien, his spouse, parents or children.  This is such a loose, wide-open standard that it is no standard at all.  Aliens are always going to claim it is a hardship for them and their families if they are removed from the United States, even if the hardship is of their own making when they showed such a disregard for our laws by illegally entering the country, illegally working, and, in many cases, obtaining fraudulent identification and other authorization documents.

Unfortunately, there are a lot more negative and potential unintended consequences buried inside this hideous piece of legislation. Overall, it is designed to encourage illegal activity and reward lawbreakers, while ignoring enforcement and border security.

Speaking on the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives last night, Democrats lined up to rattle off their key (but false) talking point: The DREAM Act is crucial, because it will help those who complete college or military service. Unfortunately, a majority of them failed to disclose the true details of this Nightmare Act and it passed… 216-198.

Democrats are not the only ones to blame. Here are the eight Republicans who crossed the aisle to vote yes for amnesty:

  • Joe Cao (defeated in the general election)
  • Mike Castle (defeated in the primary)
  • Lincoln Diaz-Balart (retiring)
  • Mario Diaz-Balart
  • Charles Djou (defeated in the general election)
  • Vern Ehlers (retiring)
  • Bob Inglis (defeated in the primary)
  • Ileana Ros-Lehtinen

Ladies and gentlemen… That’s what the lame-duck session of congress will do.

Although last night’s final vote count was extremely disappointing, there is still light on the horizon: Passage in the U.S. Senate is unlikely.

For the sake of our country, let’s hope they are right and we are able to stop this Nightmare Act.

*UPDATE* – December 18, 2010 – 1:15 PM.

The DREAM Act cloture vote fails, 55-41! It will not be brought to the Senate floor to be voted on. VICTORY!

Wonder what you would find if you frisked yesterday’s Major League Baseball game between the Arizona Diamondbacks and the Washington Nationals?

Answer: A couple of liberal, hippie protesters briefly interrupting the game.

Idiots, but hey! At least they tried, right?

The Washington Times report:

Sunday’s game between the Arizona Diamondbacks and Washington Nationals was briefly interrupted by protesters urging commissioner Bud Selig to move the 2011 All-Star Game from Phoenix because of Arizona’s new immigration legislation.

A man emerged from the left-field stands in the fifth inning and ran into short right field after Washington pitcher Stephen Strasburg grounded to short for the first out. As security guards were about to subdue the man, a woman ran onto the field from the right-field seats.

The two ran around the field, meeting in deep right-center, before they were caught by security. As they were being escorted from the field, a man and a woman holding a banner protesting the All-Star Game in Arizona ran into right field.

Before they could display the banner, a security guard ripped it from their hands, tackling one of them. As they were taken into custody, a bedsheet banner reading “Bud Selig Move All Star Game No SB 1070” was unfurled from the facade over the batter’s eye in center field.

While the banner-toting protesters were taken off the field, security removed the sign in center field. The game was delayed about two minutes.

FAIL.

I realize they were protesting this baseball game because of the “symbolism” of the two teams that were playing, but really? Apparently they weren’t trying to get a whole lot of attention, because they are two of the worst teams in baseball!

Wonder what you would find if you frisked Arizona Governor Jan Brewer’s job approval after signing an immigration law that has sparked a national debate?

Answer: Her popularity increased… A lot!

Who would have every thought? Apparently President Obama, Al Sharpton, and the liberal mainstream media cannot stop this movement as much as they decide to rant on about it. Unfortunately for them, 70% of Arizona voters agree with new immigration legislation. Therefore, Gov. Brewer’s poll numbers have soared dramatically.

Rasmussen Report has the latest:

Last week, Arizona Governor Jan Brewer signed an immigration law that launched a national debate. It has also at least temporarily helped her own chances of remaining Arizona’s governor.

A new Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of likely voters in the state shows that 56% now approve of the way Brewer is performing her role as governor. Two weeks ago, just 40% offered their approval.

The new figure includes 22% who Strongly Approve of the governor’s performance. That’s up from five percent (5%) before Brewer signed the law that authorizes local police to stop and verify the immigration status of anyone they suspect of being an illegal immigrant.

The bounce in the polls is also evident in new numbers on the November election. If Brewer is the Republican nominee, she would get 48% of the vote while her likely Democratic opponent, State Attorney General Terry Goddard, would attract 40%. Two weeks ago, it was Brewer 44% and Goddard 40%. Goddard is an outspoken opponent of the new law.

Continue to pout and demonize the opposition Democrats and liberal mainstream media.  It doesn’t matter how many times you try to compare this immigration law to “Nazi Germany”, because the argument simply doesn’t hold any water. Hey… Couldn’t you make the same argument about Obama-Care and its federal mandate? The Obama Administration and IRS will eventually force every single American to provide proof that they have health insurance. What’s the difference? Well besides the fact that no where in the Constitution does it say we HAVE to purchase a product/service to be an American citizen, but it’s the job of the federal government to protect our borders. Let’s just ignore all that… Right liberals?
