Hmm… So whatever happened to that so-called “new civility” we needed in America?

The DCist reports:

Paul Craney, the executive director of the D.C. Republican Committee, got quite the surprise when he came into the office today — someone had shot out the windows of the party’s headquarters at 1275 K Street NW with what appeared to be small caliber pellets.

“All I can say is that whoever did it either is targeting glass windows or the D.C. Republican Committee,” said Craney in an email this afternoon. Craney told us that the damage occurred around 1:30 a.m. last night, when the building’s security company left him a message about a glass break — but he didn’t notice the damage until he went and got lunch today, at which point he tweeted about it. Craney said that the headquarters’ neighbors were not hit by any of the projectiles.

Police were contacted by the building’s landlord and the incident is under investigation.

I am so glad that I moved to Washington, D.C. two weeks ago, because it appears we Republicans are being hunted around here, haha.

As Jonah Goldberg – from The National Review – pointed out: If it had been the DNC office that would prove the tea parties are [fill in the blank].”

Wonder what you would find if you frisked the Washington D.C. elites?

Answer: They think differently than the general population.

At least on a few issues… Katrina Trinko – from The Corner – reports:

Washington elites don’t care much for Sarah Palin, according to a Politico poll released today.

Among Washington elites, defined as college grads living in the D.C. metro area in policy or political positions and making $75,000 or more a year, only 11 percent think that Palin is qualified to be president, a steep decrease from the 23 percent nationwide who think she is qualified. And while half of the general population thinks that Palin is a “negative influence” on national politics, a whopping 79 percent of D.C. elites hold that view.

Asked who was most likely to win the GOP nomination in 2012, 30 percent of Washington elites picked Romney, while 11 percent chose Palin. All the other possible nominees, including Newt Gingrich, Mike Huckabee, Tim Pawlenty, John Thune, and Mitch Daniels, were only considered likely by single-digit percentages.

The elites also don’t think that the Tea Party will endure. While only 28 percent of the general population agreed that “the Tea Party movement is a fad – it will go away soon enough,” that percentage agreeing with the statement skyrocketed to 70 percent among Washington elites.

Although Sarah Palin is not my choice as a potential candidate for 2012, I thought the difference between the Washington D.C. elites and the general population’s opinion on whether or not she is qualified to be president was interesting. A twelve point gap is pretty huge…

When asked who was most likely to win the Republican nomination in 2012, 30 percent of Washington elites picked Mitt Romney. This did not shock me at all, because Washington D.C. loves their moderate politicians. After all, in my opinion, Romney is just another well rehearsed politician that would end up swimming in the center as a moderate if he won in 2012.

As of right now, my potential candidates in 2012 are Tim Pawlenty, Mitch Daniels, and Newt Gingrich.

On the subject of the Tea Party movement disappearing, I do not see that happening. If it does, it won’t be until after the 2012 election. Right now, too many Americans are upset about the radical agenda that President Obama and the Democrats have embraced.

Wonder what you would find if you frisked the “One Nation Working Together” rally in Washington D.C. yesterday?

Answer: Some angry and intolerant liberals.

Human Events reports:

A liberal protester at the “One Nation Working Together” march physically assaulted a HUMAN EVENTS reporter who was videotaping Rep. Charlie Rangel (D.-N.Y) at the event at the National Mall in Washington, D.C.

The reporter, Emily Miller, was first hit from behind while she was taping Rangel as the Harlem congressman glad-handed supporters in front of the Lincoln Memorial. Miss Miller is heard on the video saying, “Please don’t hit me.” The protester proceeds to yell at the reporter, “Well get out of the way! What do you think this is? A–hole.” The activist was attempting to meet Rangel herself. Miss Miller continued videotaping the event, when suddenly the same unhinged protester lunged at her, hit her on the arm, and yelled, “Don’t take my picture.”

Apparently the angry lady in the video didn’t realize that if something is in a public place, you are entitled to photograph it.

Besides the violent incident, Nick Gillespie and Reason TV put together a video of what they witnessed at the rally:

Also, make sure you check out Weasel Zippers’ picture of the day and the mess these liberals left behind. They even managed to trash the World War II memorial… Seriously, why do liberals (who are supposedly more interested in the environment) always litter wherever they rally?

Wonder what you would find if you frisked C-SPAN’s broadcasting schedule tomorrow?

Answer: They will be broadcasting Glenn Beck’s Restoring Honor Rally.

Media Bistro reports:

C-SPAN will be covering Glenn Beck’s “Restoring Honor” rally at the Lincoln Memorial this Saturday, with Sarah Palin among those expected to attend. Coverage begins 10amET.

Beck was on the Mall again today taking another walk-through in preparation for Saturday.

C-SPAN also will cover the Rev. Al Sharpton’s “Reclaim the Dream” rally at Dunbar High School in Washington, DC. That event will be shown on C-SPAN later on Saturday. Rev. Sharpton will be a guest on C-SPAN’s live call-in interview program “Washington Journal” Saturday morning at 7:45am ET.

I wish I could be there, but unfortunately I am going to have to DVR the event. Tomorrow I will be at the Michigan Republican State Party Convention in East Lansing, MI campaigning for State Senator Cameron Brown who is running for Michigan Secretary of State.

Wonder what you would find if you frisked Capitol Hill in Washington D.C.?

Answer: An igloo with a sign that says “Al Gore’s New Home.”

HAHA! Now that is being creative in a blizzard.

Hey Al Gore, how’s that global warming treating you buddy?

Props to Amanda Carpenter for this one:

*UPDATE* – February 10, 2010 – 2:10 PM

We finally figured out who was responsible for creating this masterpiece. It was Sen. Jim Inhofe (R-TX) and his family:

The family of Sen. Jim Inhofe, a vocal skeptic regarding man-made global warming, had some fun at climate change crusader Al Gore’s expense by building an igloo near the U.S. Capitol.

The Oklahoma Republican’s daughter Molly Rapert, along with her husband and four children, built the igloo over the weekend as Washington was hammered with a fierce blizzard.

[…]

Sen. Inhofe, the ranking Republican on the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee, told Roll Call newspaper that his family’s ironic tribute to Gore was “really humorous.”

Haha, props!

Wonder what you would find if you frisked President Obama and his plan on passing Obama-care?

Answer: Now he wants Congress to SLOW DOWN on health-care!

Like I said before, if Scott Brown won the Massachusetts special Senate election, a political tidal wave will wash over Washington DC. Turns out, I was right. Although, I got to be honest… I never thought it would make its way to the Oval Office. ABC News reports:

President Obama warned Democrats in Congress today not to “jam” a health care reform bill through now that they’ve lost their commanding majority in the Senate, and said they must wait for newly elected Massachusetts Republican Scott Brown to be sworn into office.

[…]

The president said there are “core elements” to the health care legislation that both Republican and Democrats agree on and they must come together to work for comprehensive reform.

“We know that we need insurance reform, that the health insurance companies are taking advantage of people. We know that we have to have some form of cost containment because if we don’t, then our budgets are going to blow up,” he said. “And we know that small businesses are going to need help so that they can provide health insurance for their families. Those are the core, some of the core elements of this bill.”

It’s good that President Obama wants to slow down the health-care reform process in order to get Scott Brown sworn in, but what will happen afterward is the big question. Has President Obama hit a wall of political reality and using this moment to calm down some of the anger amongst the American People? Or is he just using this time to explore other possible ways to jam this monstrosity of a health-care bill down our throats?

I guess only time will tell.
