Wonder what you would find if you frisked the liberal groups protesting Glenn Beck in East Lansing, MI during his speech?
Answer: A small group of misinformed college kids.
Well, when I heard the news that Glenn Beck was going to be speaking at the Michigan Chamber of Commerce’s Future Forum, a private event, I definitely wanted to go. Unfortunately, I couldn’t. But as I was driving through campus, I realized a small group of protesters against Beck and of course I had to boo them, haha.
This morning I got online and checked The State News‘ liberal bias:
Hundreds of protesters arrived well before Beck spoke at MSU’s Kellogg Center on Tuesday as part of the Michigan Chamber of Commerce’s Future Forum.
The crowd was there to protest Beck’s past statements about President Barack Obama, among other issues.
Beck has drawn criticism for calling Obama a racist.
“I think it is absurd,” MSU College Democrats Vice President Kaitlin April said. “The slander that he’s put out … spreading lies. I absolutely think he has a right to speak, but I think we have a right to speak as well.”
According to one of the comments left on the story, MSU ACLU also played a role in the campus protest:
I’m writing to contest the State News account of MSU ACLU’s role at the Glenn Beck event. Rather than protect the free speech rights of a well-guarded speaker at a privately-organized event, we were there to ensure that the first amendment rights of the protesters were adequately safeguarded. As you may recall, MSU’s record with handling of protests against controversial speakers (whose free speech rights have not been infringed upon in recent memory) is mixed at best. Please run a correction that clarifies the involvement of the MSU ACLU in this event.
Regards,
John Simpkins
John Simpkins is the President of MSU ACLU and my guess is that the MSU ACLU was responsible for designing and distributing most of the signs used in the protest. Hence, the photo (below) of signs stacked on top of each other used with the same looking paint/colors/signs/style.
John Morgan’s comment in WLAJ’s column described the protesters:
Standing no more than ten feet from the coal-barons was John Morgan, representing Beck’s supporters.
“These kids are misinformed,” said Morgan. “One day these clowns are going to go out and get a job and they don’t even know where the money (for their salaries) comes from.”
The best part about The State News’ article is the mention of hundreds of protesters. After driving by last night and reading the article I simply laughed. So I went online and found some photos of the event. See if you think there are hundreds – pearl:
At least I can look at the bright side. While these types of protests might happen every so often, it sure beats Obama stickers and graffiti littering/destroying the beauty of Michigan State’s campus.
As far as Michigan State athletics: GO STATE!
As far as the ideological worldview that doesn’t work in reality which found on most college campuses (including MSU): Silence*
That is so stupid, I wish people would just get their facts right and not be so ignorant.
No kidding. Apparently, Glenn Beck is racist because he said another person (President) was racist… Doesn’t make much sense.
Democratic Party must be full of them then, haha.
They are pulling out their ‘race cards’ faster than a trophy wife with her husband’s credit card, lol.
